As CEO of Rydex Investments, Carl leads the charge in delivering institutional-style investment products to financial advisors and their clients. Under Carl’s leadership, Rydex has matured and moved beyond being a niche market firm to one with a much broader appeal. Rydex’s pioneering history of creating unique investment products has continued under Carl with the firm’s ever-growing line-up of exchange traded funds and alternative investment products. Carl is also strongly committed to Rydex’s unparalleled level of customer service—one that has been a hallmark of the industry since the firm’s inception.
Carl joined Rydex in 1997. Before taking the reins of the firm in 2003, Carl served as president for Rydex Fund Services—the firm’s affiliate charged with providing transfer agency, accounting, compliance and information technology services for the Rydex funds. Prior to that, he spent three years as executive vice president and two years as vice president.
A 30-year veteran of the financial services industry, Carl served as senior vice president of Crestar Financial Corporation in Richmond, Va., , where he helped direct product and risk management activities for Crestar’s investment advisory subsidiary. Prior to that, he was vice president, managing director of Perpetual Advisory Services, Inc., a Vienna, Va., investment advisory firm. Carl earned his MBA, a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in history from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He serves on the board of directors of ICI Mutual Insurance Company, is a board member for the Skip Viragh Charities—which raises monies for children’s charities and for pancreatic cancer research—and is a member of Vistage, a national CEO organization. |
