WHY SHOULD I CLEAR MY CACHE?

Your cache remembers what Web pages you have visited. If you return to one of the pages listed in your cache, the exact same page you visited previously will appear. The cache memory reduces the time needed to reload a page. The problem is that some web pages contain information that is constantly updated. If you go to a page you visited 20 minutes ago, timely information will not appear to be updated. Clear your cache often to alleviate this problem.

Netscape

  • Pull down the "Edit" menu and choose "Network Preferences."
  • From the options choose the "Cache" tab.
  • Click on "Clear Disk Cache Now".
  • You will be notified that "this will remove all of the files currently in your disk cache". Click "OK".
  • Click "OK" at the bottom of the page, and you're done! If you have any further questions, go to http://help.netscape.com/default.jsp for direct Netscape Technical Support.

Internet Explorer

  • Pull down the "Tools" menu and choose "Internet Options."
  • Click on the "General" tab.
  • Under the "Temporary Internet Files" section, choose "Delete files."
  • Click "OK" at the bottom of the page, and you're done! Go to http://support.microsoft.com/ for direct Microsoft Internet Explorer Technical Support.

AOL 4.0

  • From the icon bar at the top of the screen, click on the "My AOL" icon.
  • Choose the "Preferences" option.
  • Click on the "WWW" icon from the "Preferences" window.
  • In the "Temporary Internet Files" area, click on "Delete Files."
  • In the "History" area, click on "Clear History."
